It depends on whether you want your two cells to be in series or parallel. Very basic electronics:- parallel will give you around 3.7V, series will give you around 7.4v . If you want parallel, both cells are the same way round, and both leads will measure 3.7V. If you want series - insert the cells 'head to tail' i.e. follow the colour coding of the wires! I hope you haven't destroyed any circuits, blown up any batteries, or started a fire!!!
