Before using these tips (even the genuine Hakko tips) you need to do the following - 1. Ensure you have selected the correct tip type in the controller menu, that is D16 for the D16 tip.
2. Now you need to calibrate the tip to the controller using a tip temperature measuring device.
3. Foliow the calibration procedure according the instructions for the controller you have.
4. Save the calibrated tip setting to your controller. This only needs to be done once for the particular tip in use. If however if you eventually need to replace that tip once it's worn out you will need to re-calibrate the controller to the new replacement tip(s). I have found that tip temperatures can be as much as 30 - 40 degrees C off the set temperature if the tip hasn't hasn't been calibrated against the controller.
