Nicely made unit, compact and sturdy seeming. Parts of the display are best suited to younger eyes (small), but the main reading is easy to read. Tiny GM tube ( J613 ) is not very sensitive, and being inside plastic screens out a lot of beta. This means it's not very sensitive for background readings. However, it also means that nearby sources give a more distinct reading. This tube has two wire leads at one end of the envelope. It's soldered into the board, and stuck down at the free end using double sided tape. In my one, the tape wasn't great and the tube had sprung away so it was only supported by the wires, and rattled in the case. This clearly won't do the wire to glass airtight bond any favours, so I re-stuck it using better adhesive tape (that black stuff used for LCD front glass etc,)
Overall, for the same kind of price as the kits with no display, recommended.

Tiny compact device with good design. Good quality and construction.It seems to operate well but I did not have the chance until now to check its accuracy against a certified one.
