Good product, very easy to connect to the network and easy to use. The temperature values are quite accurate, I had to adjust only 0.3 degrees compared to a calibrated thermometer (you can adjust calibration in the app). Not quite sure what the light percentage values are or are good for, I guess it's just an extra (does not change the backlight though).

I think so. Its minimum detection temperature is -19 degrees Celsius. I would use the external probe included and keep the main unit outside the room by the door. (do not place the main unit inside of the freezing room) (you can then use connect through WiFi and have app notify you about temperature variation outside of a pre- set range)
